Japan - Shikoku

The Shikoku 88 temples Buddhist pilgrimage, like the Camino, is open to all, despite its religious focus. Until recently, however, little was known about it outside Japan, where it is the country's most famous and popular pilgrimage. Now the route is being seen in a new light: a way to challenge mind and body, an opportunity to connect with one's inner spirituality, and a chance to be in nature. Thanks to the diligent research and work of several westerners working closely with community groups and governing bodies along the route, more and more resources become available for foreigners.
